Festival tips?

They have left for the Festival! My friend took three boys in her Mini, which was hilariously stacked up and off they went! Fingers crossed they will all come back in one piece, no matter how smelly. We had a bit of discussion over the pillow, he insisted he would be fine without one, and I disagreed so he reluctantly took one in the end. I am worried about their safety, as they are all clueless and 16 but I cant do anything about it now they have gone. To give an idea of how clueless, he was saying he wont take all his money out with him in one go, he would leave some in the TENT.

Mines gone too DD dropped him off. He msg me in the night incase he forgot to tell me before he left. "What do I sleep on/in?" I will be glad when he's home. He is used to glamping not festival camping he's in for a shock.

They left at 9am this morning, (approx. one hour journey) only just got there due to traffic, (took four hours!) and saying the camping queue is about two hours long! so glad I am not going!

I’ve just got home after dropping my daughter and two of her mates there. The queue to get in was horrendous. I dropped them about 11.30am and they’ve only just got in!

I do worry a bit as dd has only just turned 17 and it’s her first festival, but they’re all sensible girls, and there are a lot of other people they know going so they’re all sticking together!

I’ll make the 2 hour journey again on Sunday evening to pick them all up, no doubt exhausted and stinking

My daughter did Leedsfest last weekend. Said the posh loos were a godsend! I also told her to take one of those cooling towels last minute, and she said that she couldn't have lasted as long as she did without it ( it was 29c and no shade at all) All her friends wanted it 😄 She got sunburn, even with using suncream liberally, and found the heat hampered the weekend, with two hour queues to fill up water bottles.
There were a few tents near them that were robbed, by slashing the back of the tents...apparently the thieves know that the natural thing is to store your bags as far back in the tent as possible, so they know exactly where to aim for and just cut the back of the tents and rob what they can 🤬 So defo dont leave valuables in your bag.

She found the 'what3words' app great for finding their way back to their tent in the dark, when it can be hard to navigate. The app didn't work so well when I went to pick her up however. I sent her my location, but the app kept crashing because so many people were trying to use it at the same time.
We eventually found each other when I told her to go and stand under the illuminated letter 'I' which was the section of the field/pick up point I was at. I'd strongly advise arranging a meeting point as trying to find each other when thousands of people are leaving at the same time is chaos as the phone signals can't cope.
I didn't want my daughter to go, but I'm glad I did as it really wasn't her thing and she feels like now shes experienced it shes in no rush to do it again 🙂

Haha, sounds familiar, have you read my posts as dd was at Leeds fest too. Shocking situation about the water! 🥵 my dd loved it and fully intends on going again next year! 🙈

They don’t just rob tents, dd had her bag stolen in a mosh pit. 😠
