Yeah, all apprentices were sent down the hardware shop for all sorts. Luckily the shop assistant knew what we were doing and played along.
Tartan paint was one , left handed screwdriver, long weight, metric adjustable spanner , bag of sparks and best ones were skirting board ladders and a glass hammer ( to knock out dents in windscreen)

A set of fallopian tubes was another one.
In hospitals students used to be sent to the waiting room to call Hugh Jarrs , Ivor Woodencock, Annette Curtain and Iona Gunn on a regular basis. Although I once refused to call Bobby Brabender thinking it was a hoax and it turned out to be a real person🤣

We sent someone to the restaurant across the road for a pan of steam as the cappuccino machine was broken. She was told to keep the lid on tight.

My friend used to run a building supplies firm. He got in trouble with the police once when he sent the trainee to the bank for change. He put a note in the bag saying that this is a hold up and give me all your money. He had to go and apologise to the cashier with a bouquet of flowers 😂
