I'd say it's your best bet unless you want to venture to the Islands. Hebrides, Orkneys and Shetlands all good places for potential but you would need to factor in ferries etc. Would encourage anyone to visit the island groups - all lovely, but different from each other in culture - but it is an extra expense

Thanks for all your replies, I think the N500 is the way to go. Just have to wait and sit tight now and wait for things to start re-opening. It will be summer time if we go, or beginning of October if my trip to California is a no go. 😊
