I lost my wee companion in November, but she was nearly 14 so I knew we didn't have much longer with her. It was heart breaking and we are all still missing her hugely. Due to covid the Sheltie community haven't been able to get litters, so im sitting waiting patiently for a new pup.
Im so sad for you, 8 is still so young. And the suddenness of such devastating news will be so hard to take. You have my sympathy and dibb hugs, and be kind to yourself, xxxx |

I understand completely how your poor Dad feels. The same thing happened to us last year. We had to make the hard decision of putting our beautiful Bindi to sleep, and then just over a week later Yoda passed away. It was awful.

I just wish I had acted sooner. I noticed in late November that his tummy and sides were bigger but I put it down to him not exercising as much and him gaining weight. He was also fussing over his food but would eventually eat it so I didn't take it too serious. I had googled his symptoms but most things said weight loss, sickness, not wanting to do usual things, he didn't have any of those so I thought maybe he was picking up on my moods. It was only in the last week that he seemed to get worse, he started trembling occasionally, his eyes looked a little yellow so I booked him in at the vet. It never even crossed my mind that I would not be bringing him home. I know I shouldn't torture myself on the what ifs but I'm distraught thinking he's probably been in pain and suffering for a while and I didn't do anything.
