It came with the house, built by Bloors. We never gave it a second thought! We did find some quite horrifically huge spiders today in it though!

Indeed.
When we did our refurb., we found that our whole house has a "red" brick inner skin as well as the outer. No idea why they would have done that. Built in 1959.
I dont know if that was normal way back then.

For the 50's yes. Just before Thermalite blocks came on the market and changed the internal walls for ever

Back then it tended to be face bricks outside and commons for the inside. Certainly in England and Wales the majority supplied by LBC (London Brick Co)
You can see their logo in the frog of the brick.

As you say, our internal skin bricks are not faced - just smooth.

We have Belfast Bricks. Most houses in Belfast in the past used these. We had to buy some for our front wall. Much better than trying to mesh in metric bricks that dont match.

Looks great😍 you’ve got a huge garage, at least we both use it, most people just put junk in them, we need ours for parking 😉
