We stopped at premier inn Salford Media City. Close to both bbc media city and coronation street. When we went we booked the CBBC tour online. Fabulous. They do a standard bbc tour too. If kids are blue peter badge holders they get in free. The Imperial War Museum is very close and my son enjoyed this. We also visited the Science Museum.

A big hit with my older teens this summer was playing the virtual reality games at VR Hideout. Only £9 pp and they (and DH) loved it.

I recently stayed at Princess Street Hotel and found it great, don't have kids but lovely spacious rooms and bathroom and nice little coffee shop downstairs rather than a big bar.
