We were going to do a chicken roast yesterday but decided to support the local pub and buy theirs instead so tonight he has prepared beer can chicken. What are you having?

That’s a very sexy pose for a chicken!

Well we are all served up. I have to say it was the most delicious cooking smell ever and here were the end results. Delicious.

Claudette, would be interested in how it works out, I've seen It on a few cheffy type programmes bit never gone for it. Looks good.

Here the food thread.

The beer can chicken would be a very worthy addition. Certainly better than my offering tonight of a cheese sandwich. 😂
You still beat my poached eggs on toast!
In my defence we have three ‘light’ nights a week. We used to do three fast days but that’s proving a bit of a challenge in lockdown.

That looks lovely Claudette. Oven or bbQ? DH was interested (promising sign ) but wanted to know if it was crispy?

It looks very tender.

It was really good chicken. Normally when we have a chicken there is an extra portion for DH late night supper or lunch next day but there wasn’t last night. We cooked it in the oven at 170c for 1.5 hours turned it round half way, I don’t know if that was essential, we just decided to.

The skin was reasonably crispy, not crackling hard, but definitely not soft either.

The rub was made by mixing up:

1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup paprika
1 tablespoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon chilli powder
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

He prepared the chicken by covering it all over in butter and some underneath the skin too. Then coated it with the rub.

We used an Indian pale ale beer, open can and pour out a third to a half. Then artfully place chicken on can as per post #1.

Note you said pour out not pour away. Presumably somebody other than the chicken was kept hydrated by the rest 😂
