Mobile Potatoes straight from garden

When we came home in July the potatoes I had left in the cupboard had started to shoot so Dave stuck them in a large plant pot. They were actually quite an attractive plant and today he dug them up and we had some with dinner. They were really tasty and it was so little effort for something we would have only have thrown away.
We have just planted the ones that were sprouting when we got home this time.

We used to grow them years ago in the garden but they always seemed to get damaged when they were dug up, the pot seems to work much better, and look nice too.

Sue we had potatoes and chives from the allotment with butter carrots
From a neighbouring allotment with pork chops from a friends naturally fed pigs
Have grown potatoes in pots or bags for years as our soil gets too wet at times best tasting tattles you will ever get are home grown

I have chives growing but they are just so pretty I never pick them. I am a proper townie at heart and could not eat any animal I ever knew alive. I couldn't even eat Welsh lamb when we went to Wales and I nearly ran a mile (ok massive exaggeration) when the egg farmer said I could choose my Christmas turkey from a field of live ones. And I have never eaten duck since next door but one put a duck pond in their garden. I know it's illogical but I really can't help it.

Just leave them in a dark cupboard while you are away and you too will be able to grow potatoes like mine.

I am completely with you, and I am far more conscious I am eating an animal when I eat meat than I used to be. I refuse to go in any restaurant that has lobsters and crabs piled in a water tank still alive with rubber bands over their pinchers/claws!

When we used to go to Carrefour I wanted to buy the lobsters and release them!
I bet like me you don't eat rabbit either!
