Tempura - things cooked in a light batter go great with the various pickles. For pickle don't read vinegar! The steaks we had were melt in the mouth.
And the almond pudding - mmmm! Funnily enough on my way to London today to get the almond powder.
Sounds amazing, my mouth's watering now!

Today's Shinkansens are sleaker and more airstreamed but actrually are no faster than the French TGV or German ICE trains. (Max 200 m.p.h.) They are used by 151 million passengers every year.
We've sat in the one at York too, dreaming that one day we'll get there. We were starting to plan for next year (to celebrate my 50th birthday), but my 13yr old twins are taking part in a selection weekend, next week, to try and gain places to represent their Scout Group at The 2015 World Scout Jamboree in Tokyo!

If they are successful, we'll put off until then and tag our holiday onto their trip - amazing if it works out

By the way you didn't travel on their Metro did you? I remember seeing photos where the guards are pushing people on! My worst nightmare...makes travelling on ours fairly tame...
That's weekday rush hours at Shinjuku - the world's busiest railway station. One train leaves every 3 seconds! It was a ten minute walk from where our hotel was.
