uncut gems - new adam sandler oscar-worthy movie!

so uncut gems is finally out officially in the UK via netfix. dont let the fact that its an adam sandler movie put you off. this is him doing serious acting (as he has done a few times now)

and i think it should have got an oscar nomination, it really is a brilliant little movie. harsh, but what a ride! sandler plays a jewish jeweller who comes across a rare type of gem that will hopefully pay off all of his mounting gambling debts when selling it at auction.

we've dubbed this genre of movie "anxietycore"... if you've seen any other safdie brothers movies, you'll already know what to expect, and if you havent come across them, start with this and work your way back through their output. "good time" is also a stressful rollercoaster ride along these lines.

anyway, its on netflix now. go watch!

Yes it was a brilliant film. Adam Sandler played the part so well. Certainly makes you anxious all the way through and what an ending.

This was so stressful to watch. It literally gave me a headache! So I’m that sense they did a brilliant job as the film
Is tense.

I enjoyed it, after some paracetamol and a glass of wine 😂

Watched it at the weekend - thought it was fantastic. As you say, very stressful to watch - nonstop "argh!" and nonstop shouting as well!

Fantastic acting from Adam Sandler - never really knew he had it in him.

We watched it over the weekend, it wasnt for me. I love Adam Sandler but was just waiting for something to happen that just didn't. Very predictable ending too.
