Bavaro or La Romana?

We are thinking of changing our upcoming Thailand holiday to the Dominican Republic.

Which beaches are better, in La Romano or Bavaro? We like to go in the sea and would like clear water/nice sand.

We would also ideally like to be able to explore outside the hotel a little. Is there anywhere to walk to around these areas eg external restaurants etc?

Our favourite hotel at the moment looks to be the Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar but answers to the above could sway us

Hi ,going to the DR for the first time ourselves later this year and been doing quite a bit of research macao beach looks stunning with seaweed not too big a problem ,however we have decided to stay at secrets cap cana as its our first time doing AI and like the look of the hotel also adults only ,

We are just looking at Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar. We stayed at the BPL Akumal in Mexico last year and really enjoyed it.
