Question Basic app on phone help please

As you will soon see I have little idea about phones and technology, so please keep your answers really basic

I use my Samsung android phone to log into my Gmail email and MDE app, as well as several others. I have bought a US sim which I'll put in on the plane. Please can you tell me if all my apps will carry on working after I've put this new Sim card in, and will my Gmail emails just appear as they do now? Thank you.

Is your phone unlocked, ie, will it accept the new SIM card?

If yes, all apps should remain on the phone without issue; your number & possibly contacts (if stored on the sim) will not.

Yes thank you, I've checked that it's unlocked, great point about contacts, I will make a list before I go. Will I need to put in my passwords in or will everything just open up?

You could just make sure your contacts are saved to your phone rather than your SIM, this will save loosing any contacts.

In terms of your contacts, if you transfer them to your google account rather than your phone they will transfer to any new phone you get in the future as they are held on the account rather than the phone or SIM if that makes sense.

Unless you’ve turned off settings when you first got it, your google login (the one you used to have your android phone have gmail and download apps) should be saving your contacts to your gmail

Thank you, I've just done this, it took an embarrassingly long time to figure out how to do it, but it's done now!
