Barmouth

Looking to maybe spend a week here at the beginning of July.
Any tips?
We'll be looking for somewhere to rent.
Any areas nearby that are a bit cheaper?
Any recommendations welcome

I drove there and back from Yorkshire yesterday, to visit friends. It is absolutely gorgeous, I haven’t visited before but i think i would definitely go back for longer

It does look so beautiful but because of that it's pricey to stay there so wondering if it's cheaper nearby

We regularly visit Barmouth as it’s where my DM grew up. It’s not cheap but it has amazing beaches, lovely shops, cafes and restaurants and a welcoming atmosphere. We last stayed at Aber House, right in the centre, has a basement flat for a family of four, car parking, short walk from pretty much everything including the beach, harbour and old town 👌😀

IMHO it’s worth staying in the town - have you considered Airbnb?

I've looked at all sorts really, Airbnb are o cheaper than say Holiday lettings, especially in July

Can’t help on where to stay, but we visited for a day and loved it there, but the town centre chip shop has an interesting name!

Best fish and chips in Barmouth are from The Mermaid.

We visited the town in 2018 as we stayed in the Snowdonia area in a cottage we rented though Sykes Cottages. Our cottage was close to Betws-y-Coed but they have properties all over the country. Barmouth itself isn’t large, so accommodation isn’t so easy to find in the town itself so it may be easier to look for a cottage nearby.

We ate fantastic meals at a restaurant opposite the beach. It was very small (difficult to get a table) and looked ordinary but I had an amazing surf and turf burger there.

Wow..thats a blast from the past for us!
We went to Bala and stayed on a farm 35years ago..went to Barmouth for the day.
Fab memories when our sons were little.
