So, I've read a few threads about trying to get a Boarding Group number but can't find an answer.

My questions are do you leave several days blank in your plan, without booking any Fp's to try and one? Do you book 2 Fp's in HS and hope for the best? Or do you book Fp's in other parks but still try and get a Boarding Group in HS as well?
I really don't want to spend loads of days of my holiday getting to HS early to try. Perhaps it's best not to bother? What are your thoughts?

you need to be in the park (all members of your part wanting to ride) in order to go on the app and request a boarding group

so pick a day to go, book fast passes for other rides but get there early to try and get a BP

No - the Boarding Pass is in addition to the normal fast passes.

This boarding pass carry on seems a bit stressful. I would be raging if I got there early but had problems with the app and missed out.

Thanks all, pleased to hear we can hold the Fp's and still get a BP if we're lucky. Will have to plan my days carefully then, as there's so much to fo since my last visit!
I'll hope all the technical issues will be sorted by August too, I wonder if it'll be a Fp by then?

I've decided to plan in 3 morning visits to HS, which is more than I usually would plan. I've gone for one on a day where we are going to a water park. This is also a pain as water park days are usually a nice lie in and then relaxing. I'm hoping that it will all go smoothly we'll get a boarding pass, head to typhoon lagoon and then back to HS in time for when the boarding pass opens. It does add an extra layer of complexity on the whole thing though doesn't it? It's tricky to know what to do for the best. I'm sure I'll be worrying about the boarding groups at TL and be feeling like I constantly need to check my phone, so it won't be the relaxing experience it usually is.
