Sending lots of love
Is she insured if so check your policy as some firms can offer advice after a traumatic event & have a list of behaviourists they recommend |

OP. Absolutely dreadful and I hope you all recover from this ordeal. Unacceptable.
However. To ensure the case isn't just logged and filed I would recommend you do some digging around yourself. I would be going to the same location on my own (without the dog) as if the offender has taken their dog there before they will return again probably. Then you could see if they have a car or even grab a photo of them surreptitiously. Once the Police contact you ask to see your local PCSO as they are adept at dealing with these slow time cases. Best of luck

Pleased to hear Bonnie is sort of OK, it will probably take a while to get her to deal with it mentally. I think the fact the other owner was not bothered probably means the dog has done this before, the police may have had complaints already. I hope they deal with this. It seems that dogs on leads are often targets for dogs off lead, i think dogs should always be on a lead. Hope your DH hand is ok. My DH had to break up a dogfight and his hand was painful afterwards and had to go to a&e for stitches etc.

Poor baby, at least she is home, she looks bewildered. We live very rural and generally do not see anybody else on our walks, but when we take the dogs somewhere else, this is my worst nightmare. I remember we were in the Lake District once, in a town area and this man had two brutes that were obviously desperate to get at mine. One of mine was only a four month old puppy then. Fortunately the man did have them under control, but he was literally pinning them against a wall and trying to block their view or ours, I think I picked the puppy up and put him under my coat.
I am glad you got through to the police eventually and hope that this will be dealt with swiftly and firmly. We needed police quite recently and me and four other people each tried for days and days and days. I also stood outside a police station for an hour by the intercom thing which claimed (automated voice) that somebody would be along shortly. As a last resort I considered putting a brick through a jewellers window, then sitting down on the pavement to await arrest. When I read about people phoning police to report neighbours for breaking rules, I always think “good luck with that”. The police force is on furlough. |

Oh my goodness how horrific!
You say the dog owner was not in control of their dog - did they say anything, exchange numbers with you or accept any responsibility etc? That is really unacceptable and I hope you manage to get justice! Best wishes to you, your fur baby and hubby!

No we just got a I am sorry, for some bizarre reason the woman asked me to give her Bonnies collar, as her dog was wrapped around her throat couldn’t understand why!
When DH managed to get Bonnie off the dog he literally threw her to me and she ran off to the car with me running behind her. DH was in a state and couldn’t breathe thought he was having another heart attack, the couple didn’t say anything as they were trying to pin the dog down to stop it running after Bonnie. Bonnie ran back to our car, and went underneath it took us ages to get her out. Jane

This is so horrible.
Do NOT let it rest, do all you can to get justice. Your Bonnie was lucky but the next dog might not be

How awful for you all. I hope Bonnie recovers quickly. You have done the right thing by contacting the police.
My last dog was a chihuahua and got attacked by a chocolate lab in front of my ds who at the time was a toddler. I was fortunate that I managed to pull the dog off my dog before he got hurt but it was mentally scarring for us all. I didn’t even get an apology from the owners 😡 |
