Heathrow says it has contingency plans to remain open and operate safely.

We are flying home from Vienna to Heathrow that day - I am a bit stressed about it but really there’s nothing we can do at the moment. It may get called off. Heathrow are saying they have plans in place but Unite are saying the airport will effectively be closed. All we can really do is sit and wait and hope.

It's difficult to imagine how contingency plans can effectively replace c4,000 workers, many with skills that can't be easily picked up any old temporary worker.

I'm just pleased we are flying on the 24th - good luck to those who are due to fly out on one of the strike days (I'd not care if I was due to fly back on a strike day)
