Mobile Vitamin D

Gosh I've been feeling really under the weather for a while now and went to see my Dr who said let's do a full MOT including bloods. I was sure it was my thyroid because I had many symptoms- tiredness, aches, anxious feelings, no zest for life, brain fog etc.

Been today for my results which were all really good apart from my vitamin D! All my symptoms can be caused by vitamin D deficiency. I didn't realise how important this vitamin was! Not great to have such a low level at the end of the summer!

I have really low vit D. It’s really common apparently but some people (you sound like me) can get really low levels. I was put on a months super dose to get my levels up and now I take a daily supplement.

I did have a really office based job with long hours so can see how mine might have been low anyway but obviously mine was a bit worse than it should have been.

I still feel a bit rubbish so not sure if my levels are still quite right, are you having to go back for a retest?

How things change. About 3 years ago I asked my doctore for a Vitamin D test and he said no - because 'nobody in this country is deficient (wrong) and you don't need it unless you're clinically deficient (also wrong)
I take a supplement daily anyway (except when I'm in Florida ) and have done for years.
I recommend this book - 'The Vitamin D Solution' by Dr Michael F Holick he also has some really interesting lectures on YouTube

I was told to see how I feel, go back if still not right. I'm not really "one for the sun" I've always been really cautious because I have a lot of moles so it's either factor 50 or no sun!

Going to try and up the vitamin D rich foods too. Hope you also feel better soon, it's dreadful!

I had a severe vitamin d deficiency a few years ago and felt absolutely awful! I have a thyroid condition so thought that maybe my levels were low (they were slightly, but not enough to have made me feel so bad). I now take a daily vitamin D supplement and try and get as much sun as I can during the summer months.

Same here. My doctor did tests and my vitamin D levels were really low so I have been put on 3200 units a day for 12 weeks, they are then going to do more tests.

When I started taking Vit D3 last year on the recommendation of my sister I noticed a difference within a week ! That was without going to the doctors as I never felt any detrimental symptoms to start with but they certainly made a difference to me even so. Healthspan (healthspan ) do a very good high dosage one that I take. Highly recommend them.

I had vitamin d deficiency. I was very ill with it. As soon as I took the medicine, I felt a massive difference almost immediately. Hope you feel better soon. ☺️

Its really surprising just how many symptoms can be caused or made worse by vit d deficiency. My fibro symptoms had been getting worse so my gp did some blood tests and it turned out I have both vit d & calcium deficiencies. I'm currently on a high dose supplement and the side effects aren't great but my symptoms are not as bad.
