How to choose energy suppliers

Hello,

We bought a new house on Wednesday, which has been empty for some time due to a death.

We're not 'moving' our energy over as we are currently living with family.

I'm only finding comparison sites that want usage etc, I'm actually just wanting to know who will be cheapest etc.

We're in Warrington, haven't got a smart meter and are 2 people in a 2 up 2 down mid terrace if that helps at all.

Thanks

I have to shop around for dh's business as it is a high energy user. I end up phoning round and asking for the unit cost of electricity. The p per day I tend to ignore because it's only pennies. Some companies will also give a discount if you pay monthly. Have you tried MSE?

Sorry just read you have checked out comparison sites. I've just moved our house over to eversmartenergy. We were with British Gas but they had a huge hike!

Thanks, I’ve ended up going with the current supplier for the first quarter on a variable plan, then I think I will switch when the quarter is up so I can get real quotes, I’ve found it quite confusing to be honest, it’s all set up for moving from one house to next, or ‘switching’ suppliers at your current house.
