Yes - the scrubbing is mainly to get rid if those sprouty bits which can be harmful even if boiled.
But usually I peel them anyway so rarely scrub. |

Jackets - never. I get them pre packaged and they come ‘clean’. If there are any sprouts on old potatoes I just cut them out/off before cooking.
Another question regarding jackets, do you microwave yours before putting them in the oven? |

And it’s great reading the responses with that in mind. 😂
Like…”I do what my grandad used to do, give them a quick wash, get some salt on my hands and rub it all over the skin.” And ….”Apparently MIL told DW to stick them straight in the oven as the heat kills the bugs.” That had me laughing in bed and I had to explain to DW! 😂 Edited at 12:17 AM. |

I do, though I seem to find some potatoes taste watery recently.
My stepdaughter buys the frozen ones but I still want to crisp them up in the oven so no quicker

i only scrub them if they are from the garden, or look a bit grotty.
protip, brine your potatoes before baking... after cleaning (or not), put them in a tub/pan with salted water for half an hour before drying completely, stabbing a few times, then rubbing in oil, and adding some more salt. then bake covered for 45-60 mins, before uncovering and finishing off for another 15-45 mins (depending on how long you can wait) best potato you will ever have! |
