I prefer both, but as I am cooking for 9 this year, it will just be Roast ..Roast potatoes, parsnips and carrots… plus sprouts (fried off with bacon crumbs), piggies, Stuffing (with sausage meat), Cranberry Sauce, Yorkshires, Beef, Pork, Ham .. oh and Turkey!

The thing I really dislike about Christmas dinner is that phrase ‘And all the trimmings’. I absolutely hate it and may well not serve up to anybody who uses it on the day.

I feel the same about ‘pulled’ Pork. It is shredded.. I used to ‘pull’ in pubs, but never at a dinner table. Mandie knows that I will only consider eating it if described as shredded.

We are only having Pork because it comes as part of a Christmas Day meat pack that we purchased.

As the oven is on, then it goes in with the rest!

There has to be mash. How can mashed potatoes be common when you can get them in Michelin starred restaurants?. Anyway I don't mind being common if it means I can have mashed potatoes.

If anyone wants mash I’m sure I brought back a packet of Idaho instant mash potatoes from our trip last month and they know where the kettle is or they can bung potatoes in the instant pot
So there you have it

A food snob is something I heavily dislike. People have preferences and likes/dislikes but to hold such an opinion on others food habits is rude.

On to the question in hand. We’re having both but if there was only room for one mash would win hands down!

Need the mash to go with the pigs in blankets! And absolutely have to have Yorkshire puds, there’d be a riot otherwise.

I don’t do mash with Christmas dinner but my dil who’s Canadian wanted it one year so I bought a sainsburys ready made one. I won’t bother this year unless she ask, we always have Yorkshire puds my son eats four!
