Anyone else’s Xmas dinner numbers dwindling?
My mum has tested positive for COVID 😔!
So her and her partner are obviously not coming now. She was getting puddings and making her soup. So now I’ll get a quick dessert when out shopping tomorrow and skipping the starter! So many people I know getting positive results lately!

Not so far but my son has just been to Bolton for their Northern Christmas and his brother in law has tested positive so we are waiting and seeing. They are supposed to be cooking dinner for 10 on Christmas Day and 16 on Boxing Day so going to have to do some rapid rearranging if they test positive.

We were at 9..
Myself, Mandie and our 2 sons. My Father (Mum died last year) My Mother and Father in Law as they are no longer up to it. My Brother in law who is veggie and can’t cook, still living at home with parents. Their friend who invites himself down from Amesbury every year. Friend from Amesbury had his self invite cancelled by the in laws yesterday. Mother and Father in law not well so now unlikely to come round. Brother in law not invited on his own.. Realistically, we are down from 9 to 5.

We were to be 16, now down to 10. My youngest brother tested positive last week, his isolation ends Christmas Eve, but his two kids have now tested positive so they can't come. The eldest of my brothers tested positive today so him and his partner can't come. That leaves us 4, my middle brother and his family and my mum and dad. I thought it was going to bee that was most at risk as our school only broke up today. Fingers crossed we can get together at New Year.

The guy invites himself down every year. Nice guy and former workmate of my FIL. He is single.
MIL has MS and FIL heart difficulties. Both good cooks, but in their mid 70s and really not up to cooking a Christmas dinner for lots. They simply told the guy that with all that is going on, they would sooner he stayed in Amesbury this year. A sensible call. BIL and I are .. different. I have grafted all my life and always find employment. He is 46 and hasn’t worked in donkeys years.. and then only briefly. He also is vegetarian and I am not. FIL and MIL have isolated throughout Covid and pretty much obeyed every rule as they are clearly vulnerable. BIL is then looking to come to my house.. I work in a COVID test centre and also a Hospital in very close proximity to patients. My wife is very regularly in Asda. My eldest son is home from Uni .. and working in Asda. Likely one or more of us will get COVID and therefore likely he will take it straight to them, wrecking any isolation measures. I guess it will be the 5 as my Dad is 88, has every illness under the sun and doesn’t give a monkeys about COVID. He knows he ain’t got long left and has no intention of not enjoying it as best he can. He is ex Military and with a Military attitude… death can be fatal and in any case gets us all eventually. That is it.. in a nutshell!. Edited at 07:45 PM. |
