What is your favourite cake?

A prominent DIBBER is currently writing a live trip report in which cake figures rather prominently. This begs the question, what is the best cake in the view of other Dibbers.

Please restrict yourself to just 3.. and here are mine.

1. Black Forest Gateau.. pure 1970s indulgence.

2. Tesco (or Morrisons) Mango and Passionfruit Cheesecake.

3. Really lush Carrot Cake with Sultanas in it.

Home made boozy Christmas cake
Home made ginger bread
Home made Madeira cake
All my grandmothers recipes and are very firm family favorites the Madeira cake one was used this weekend for 2 grandkids birthday cakes I made the cakes mum decorated them one had to have no jam and butter icing for grandson it had smooth peanut butter filling and butter icing with crushed Oreo’s his choice it was demolished in 5 mins at a family do earlier
Tomorrow it’s all proper cake ( well you won’t allow a extra choice Victoria sponge )
Fondant icing cream and jam filling
I’ll indulge in that the other one yuk yuk yuk hate butter cream icing and peanut butter devils food

Carrot cake….I’m not fussy on the brand. Or M&S coffee and walnut.

Oh, that's easy I thought! But actually not that easy as I love all cake 😂

*A proper big/ tall carrot cake with cream cheese frosting 😋

*Coffee and walnut with the icing just going hard on the very edges, but soft and gooey inside with sugared walnuts to decorate 😋

*A perfectly light Victoria Sponge. With sprinkled sugar on the top and jam and thick buttercream in the middle 😋

(Am also partial to the aforementioned Costco red velvet cake 😘 And am making a chocolate fudge cake later which will be particularly tasty 😋 )

#lovecake

Fresh cream meringue
Key lime pie
Lemon drizzle cake

I grew up in a town on the North Wales coast where there was a small family bakery with a shop and they sold the best fresh cream meringues crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside.
Sadly it’s no longer there as their cakes and bread were amazing

Coffee and walnut cake is my favourite followed by carrot cake.

At the moment Costa has a carrot and walnut cake which is a nice blend of my two favourites.

Lemmon drizzle... hands down

Hubby and DD1 are both intolerant of lactose, hubby is wheat and gluten too. I make a VERY good strawberry (tart) cake, and chocolate cream cake on their birthdays. Lactose free and gluten free products have come a long way, and I am so used to cooking with them that i find "normal" cake very heavy, also my younger Daughter will sometimes only eat my pancakes or cake.
The strawberry tart cake is vanilla sponge with vanilla whipped cream, sliced up strawberries then strawberry tart sauce, twice.
