I am the other way around. We got an HP and Epson around the same time 6 years ago.
The Epson has been binned after 2 print heads clogged and no end of cartridges drying out before being used. The HP 5520 has been perfect even with low use. Cartridges run out of ink and not dry out and the print head is still the original. Avoid the bargain basic HP printers and they tend to then be pretty good. |

I have actually just changed the low volume toner this morning that came with it (after 6 months of what I say average family use). I got the high yield replacement which claims 2800 pages, but I will expect maybe 2000 with some graphics printing. That was £65 I think so should last over a year for us- maybe up to 2. Very easy process compared to my old Epson Inkjet. You basically open the top, the whole drum slides out, and slide the new one in- nothing else to do, perfect prints. Does a page in about 2 secs once it starts printing. We will not go back to inkjet. We do not print photos or colour pages though.
