For those asking how long the walk is... 😊

How these walking distances compare to others throughout Walt Disney World:

Magic Kingdom to Grand Floridian Lobby: .70 miles
Magic Kingdom to Grand Floridian villas lobby: .83 miles
Magic Kingdom to Polynesian Tokelau: 1.15 miles
Magic Kingdom to Polynesian Moorea: 1.44 miles
Magic Kingdom to Bay Lake Tower lobby: .45 miles
BoardWalk lobby to Epcot International Gateway: .38 miles
BoardWalk lobby to Disney's Hollywood Studios: .75 miles
Epcot to Disney's Hollywood Studios: 1.13 miles

Pleased to see the end of the path to nowhere.

I understand the bridge is coming on apace and foundations etc all complete, if not more so. Anybody know when it's due to open? Dec or next year?

This has been on the stocks for so many years glad to see it nearing completion. Backup for the aging monorail I think !

Some discussions in the other place about options for another low lying resort between GF and MK in due course, could be interesting!

I don't think Disney have given any timescales. I haven't been able to find any blog updates for the last couple of weeks either. I would love to see it open before we stay there in November but I suspect that's unlikely.
I think it's a great move and I'm looking forward to using it when we're there in May.

Not much of an update but good to see that construction for this has started up again. Will be good when they announce a completion date!

I think the original idea was to get the guests to pay to buy the paving stones to construct, “ a walk around the world!” Every paving stone would have the guests names and the date of purchase.
People did actually buy them outside the MK but for whatever reason eventually the idea was scrapped.
You were only guaranteed so many years of your stone being kept there, and then they would be replaced. Or something like that.
I believe that they were only dug up a few years ago and I’m not sure what happened to them. Maybe the owners were offered an opportunity to re- purchase A tiny bit of the stones and then it would be sent to you as a souvenir.
Part of this is correct but I’m not sure all of it is?!

One site (may have been Dis) said it may not open until next year? It will be an excellent addition for both GF and Poly- we prefer to walk every time.

We're the same. By the time you've faffed around with transport it's quicker and easier to walk, especially with a stroller
