well if he has an iPhone 3 that cant be updated anymore so no issue there. download and install the latest version of iTunes and basically do a sync this will include your contacts etc. then once you have a backup then you can update the iPhone to the new version if you wish. EDIT - make sure you DO a backup first. DO NOT update to the latest version without a backup.

Tried to recover photos with Wondershare Dr Fone (iPhone 4) & it found most of the missing ones up to Sept but then wanted to charge to recover to my pc. Does anyone know how to recover files without paying as they're obviously still on there somewhere

iTunes says I've got 4.7gb of photos so they must be there as only got 5 pics at the mo but how can I get them without paying? The recovery programme I found them on wanted $99
