For me personally I hand draw and mark with a super sharp knife.
Then both needed scraped out so the pumpkin was very thin to get the correct effect. I had to be careful with Spider-Man's eyes as I got the hole effect with a skewer but still wanted a layer behind so it looked like mesh. You can get templates to follow online for most designs :-) |

Templates are my friend and I am very much a beginner. All of these are absolutely fantastic! Love seeing all the different designs and creativity from people.

Hoping to nip to local shops in a bit and get our pumpkin... this year we scoured the Internet and we are having a storm trooper pumpkin... it looks pretty easy... but I'm a complete amateur lol... templates are my friend too and a pumpkin carving kit I got from morrisons for £1
Last year we did the Mickey Mouse pumpkin in first post ... looked exactly the same lol do we must've used same template |

Oh my! We got a plastic type one you carve. I think it might be polystyrene. It was super easy for my wife to do ( I am disabled before you think I am lazy lol ) and we stuck a timer candle in it so it comes on at 5 pm with the other timer candles from Costco.
Reusable.. Cheating I know but it looks real! |
