Calling all crafty people..school project help
My sons school have sponsored and are decorating a tree for a festival to be held at he local church. Children have been asked to make a decoration, with the theme being 'The Creative Curriculum'.
I am very stuck for ideas...does anyone have any inspiration? Edited to add he is currently learning about The Age of Man...so Stone Age, Bronze Age, iron age

Do you mean as in a Christmas decoration?
Could you google that time period and look at jewellery/weapons/armour etc and create an ornament based on that design. I guess I'm thinking something similar to a Celtic symbol. You could make it out of salt dough or clay and paint it bronze.. I hate doing things like that. I'd rather do maths homework any day! Good Luck! |

egad! Salt dough as above or the only other thing I can come up with is to get some acetate paper (clear see through stuff) and trace some pictures from each age onto them and colours them in. Cut into different shapes then decorate the edges.
Good Luck |

Does it have to be about what he is learning right now, to me "The creative curriculum" means showing subjects in a creative way, so for example making a musical instrument out of toilet roll inners and decorating, or portraying a piece of history he has learnt, maybe a decorated paper mache letter for English with lots of words starting with the letter chosen, for example if you choose to decorate a letter C you can then decorate it with paint and then write words like cat, car, computer, could etc (I don't know what age your son is so words relevant to his age) or making a small abacus out of beads for Maths.
Maybe I have taken a different slant on it though.

How about getting a ginger bread man cutter, some Fimo soft clay. Cut the man out of the clay. Then make one side of the man a stone age man and the other bronze or iron.
