Skyscanner\Gotogate - luggage query

Hi all,
This might be a bit long winded but I'll try and explain as best I can to see if someone can advise.

With our holiday this May cancelled, we decided to book for next May but going indirect and staying for a few days longer. Got good prices on Skyscanner using KLM flights) and went via Gotogate to book.

Took screenshots all the way through the booking process to show that luggage was included but when confirmation came through, no luggage included.

I've been emailing them (after phoning them and being advised to email) but it's a bit like pulling teeth. Surely as the screenshots show baggage, they should either include it or refund us?

What I've noticed is:
1. Flights are via Delta (even though it said KLM) and when i log into Delta, I can choose my seats and when I do a baggage estimate it says first bag is free for each passenger but no option to add one. What is weird though is I'm being refunded for paying for seats by Gotogate as they couldn't do it due to "technical difficulties" yet it's free anyway on Delta's site.
2. Return flight seems to have been changed to basic economy but no options for baggage either.

Has anyone come across this before or any advice would be really appreciated.

Thanks
Steve

Our current Delta booking via Expedia had baggage included as standard as did our previous Delta booking last year with a different agent. I would think that yours are included as they show no cost for them on Delta. Delta don't charge for seat reservations. I've never booked extra bags so don't know what the charge is.

My experience with Delta is that they are very strict with weight limits. We're a family of five and took four bags for the hold last year. When leaving the US we had two bags under the weight and two bags over. They tried to charge us excess baggage costs but we moved items around so that all bags were under the weight.

As cls123 has said Gotogate at the best of times have a really poor reputation and now with Covid-19 they are an utter shambles to be polite, go onto Tripadvisor and search the Airline forums for them, if you get any sort of reply for your query it will be a miracle at this time. If you have booked KLM but it's a codeshare with Delta then Delta's T's & C's will apply as they operate the flight.

Thanks for this.
Do you know if Delta would be able to answer the query for me? A bit worried about Gotogate switching me to basic economy on the way home with no option to even look at luggage. Paying for it at the airport would be astronomical.

Thanks. Not sure what is going to happen but it's there mistake so should hopefully sort it. Just annoying when trying to tie it in with everything else and we can't finalise due to the uncertainty over the flights.

I think Delta would be able to answer the luggage issue for you. I think that if you can reserve seats then your baggage is included as the most basic flight does not include baggage or let you reserve a seat.

I used Gotogate a few years ago and everything was fine but I had no reason to contact them. You're more likely to get the answers you need from Delta but expect to wait a while for a reply.

Saw some flights on skyscanner today from Edinburgh to MCO which were £1500 for the 4 of us for May next year.

Went through to the KLM official site which gives you options on what package you want. The ‘light’ package says it includes a 23kg check in baggage. The standard is £160 on o more for nothing extra?

KLM website shows its with delta. It’s a cracking price but surely it’s not going to include luggage? How can I check for sure apart from locking myself into the flight by purchasing?

Edited at 09:50 AM.

This is what I thought about the flights going but my concern is with Gotogate "downgrading" my flight on the way back. I can't book seats coming home as they have it marked down as basic economy which means no seat booking until check-in.

I've sent them another email to chase up so hopefully they get back to me soon.
