I'm now very worried that all our naval ships are only about 80% of the size they should be.

I was in my second year of senior school when the change happened. I remember getting all giddy when I called into the newsagents on my way to school and receiving change in the new currency.
Even now, all these years later, all measurements get converted into yards, feet and inches and weight into stones and pounds.

I was on teaching practice just before the decimalisation day and we had samples of all the coins as teaching aids. It was good to know all about it in advance of the day

I remember it clearly. I was working as a student p/t in MacFisheries Supermarket (remember them?) at the time. We had training playing 'shops' in the canteen to get us used to the money.

On the morning of the changeover I remember sitting at my till wearing my 'I'm Trained in Decimal Currency' badge with the MacFisheries fish logo on it and feeling dead proud! Was exciting giving people the change in 'new' money. I still have that badge.

Me too. Never forget the date. I was a cashier in a bank. We had 3 weeks before D day to practise using the “new” money. We did get a lot of overtime however👍
