The 50s/60s sitcom stories are the plot.

Just like how in the 50s and 60s the plot in the sitcoms was, for example, having the boss round for dinner when the wife mistakenly thinks it’s a romantic anniversary meal, or having to put on a magic show for the town but things go hilariously wrong. Those were the plots. That was it. There weren’t any other plots.

And if they told us everything up front about what was going on with the C-plot then there would be no mystery. And the whole point of this show is that it’s a mystery thriller wrapped around a sitcom theme.

Basically it is the MCU version of Life On Mars, I think.

I am loving it.

I have no idea what to make of this.

I watched both and haven’t a clue what’s going on.

Might persevere as there’s no much else worth watching at the moment.

Ok take away any of the pre released information and just go on what you know about the marvel cinematic universe through the released films not comics. Scarlet witch and vision are 2 of the most powerful entities in it. This is really confusing.
If you take the mandalorian after 2 episode you knew what was going on even if you had not watched anything of Star Wars.

There are some helpful ‘all you need to know’ YouTube videos out there that summarise everything.

Yes, but the point is, it's supposed to be a mystery. You're not meant to know what's going on (yet). That's what's meant by a mystery. The Mandalorian is not a mystery (it's a sci-fi western).

Last we saw in the movies, the Vision was dead. Wanda was moping around at Tony Stark's funeral. So how come Vision is alive? Why are they in a sleepy 50s/60s town seemingly married? Why is everything in black and white and appears to be like an old sitcom? How did Wanda suddenly become pregnant? It's a mystery and we'll find out why and how over the next several weeks.

At this stage it's supposed to be confusing. You're supposed to be thinking "What the heck is going on?" whilst seeing hints (eg. the radio messages trying to contact Wanda asking who's doing this to her) that things may not be quite what they seem.

Obviously, if you don't like mysteries where the story unfolds over several weeks then you're not going to like this. Which is fine - not everyone likes every type and genre of TV programme.

Yes. Or the MCU version of Lost.

I also think that the old American sitcom format is putting some people off. They don't want to watch an old sitcom featuring a couple of Marvel characters. They want to see something more like the movies - an action/adventure show. I can sympathise with that view - I'm not sure about the sitcom aspect myself.

The next episode will be based on a 70s sitcom ("The Brady Bunch" I think?). Then the episode after that will be based on an 80s sitcom, then a 90s sitcom in the next episode, followed by a 00s sitcom (I think?). By episode 7 we'll be pretty much in the present time and should have a better idea about what's going on.

There are 9 episodes in total, so I think the last 3 will drop the sitcom aspect altogether. Something like that.

There are screenshots online that imply the final sitcom episode is going to be a mockumentary like The Office- I’m excited!

I’m looking forward to seeing this, I read yesterday that Wanda is played by the younger sister of the Olson twins who had their own show as children. Never new this, but cannot deny the family resemblance.
