WDW balance payment/cancellation

Our balance for our Disney stay, booked with Disney direct, is due on the 17/06. We have made the decision not to go. I've read today they will allow cancellations up to 3/10. We have paid a deposit of £150, if I don't pay the balance on the 17th, will I receive an automatic refund of my deposit, or is there some way else to get this refunded, or do I have to phone to cancel.

Apparently the 3/10 is for US bookings only, someone on the other thread called them today.

You can get a refund up to 31st August though so I would call them to cancel, not sure they’d just automatically refund.

Yes, it was me who called them an hour ago to cancel my September POFQ booking and that's what I was told.

I'm just off the phone. I have a booking for 22nd July. My balance was due 27th May. I know that I won't be going now in July. I was told I could transfer my booking to 2021 but offers have not been released yet. The agent said that all balance payments have automatically been extended to 35 days before check-in. I have decided just to leave today and see if things are further forward by then.

I wonder if the CM is not quite up to date with their information, as it clearly state on the uk site that guests who have booking up to October 3rd can indeed cancel for a refund. Hope this link works 🤞

I wondered that so rang again and spoke to someone else who said the same thing. Also someone on a UK Disney FB group I belong to rang and was told the same thing. The second person I spoke to said they'd taken loads of calls on it.
