A baby and a toddler in a value resort? Insane?
Is it? I'm thinking a deluxe resort for the balcony when babies are napping and extra hallway space for the pram, along with proximity to the parks (being able to walk to Epcot from Beach Club) rather than constantly folding up the buggy, however, it is soo much more money than a value. Like £2000 more. Usually I work extra shifts (I'm a nurse) to afford deluxe stays but now I have a baby (and another one on the way) I don't really want to work extra shifts and spend more time away from them.
Has anyone stayed in a value with two young children? Are you in the room much? Would you do it again? |

With a young baby I always found a small kitchen and in room laundry facilities extremely handy. I wouldn't want to stay in a value or a deluxe room in your situation TBH.

Haven't done value with a child, but have done moderate and delux DVC. We found a 1 bed apartment in Saratoga or Old Key West to be preferable to the room in Port Orleans French Quarter with a toddler. Didn't bother to put up the travel cot in POFQ as we would have had no room, he slept on the bed with all the pillows making a fort - it was OK for a week but would have driven us mad for much longer. We couldn't sit outside or have bright lights on whilst we were there. The 1 bed apartment had a washer/drier, plus kitchen plus living area and allowed us to spread out, plus made coming home easy with clean and dry washing.
In your situation I would look at renting points. It should be said that we were normally in bed and asleep about 30 mins after the toddler on all occasions and the moderate was perfectly fine but we had a better holiday in the delux! |

We did the Swan hotel with a 6 months old baby and 2 year old.
The size of room was 340 square feet. We had a huge cot and huge double pram and we had just enough space. A value resort is around 260 square feet. I think that will be extremely tight with all of our stuff. If you are bringing 4 suitcases, a double pram, 2 car seats and are using a cot I think you might struggle for space. Have you checked the prices of the Swan and Dolphin might be cheaper than a Disney deluxe? Edited at 04:24 PM. |

We have stayed in POFQ with a baby and a child. We even used a travel cot. It was fine. Although our baby was just over 1 so no need for loads of sterilising gear which I think makes a big difference.
If you could manage a studio apartment at one of the DVC then you’d get the kitchenette which is really helpful with little ones. And there’s usually more entry space or a largish cupboard on the way in for the stroller. A one bed would be amazing but if you are looking at your budget then I think it would be a lot more. |

Thank you for all of your replies. We usually do rent points but it's too risky now with covid, we wouldn't be planning to go until at least October 2021, however you have to book points so far in advance its too difficult to know if covid will be done by then.
I think from reading replies that values are definitely out, so may delay it to afford deluxe for the space as we would need sterilising equipment too. Thank you |

I think some of the value resorts have family suits which sleep up to 6 and have a small kitchen. Never priced one, but I'm sure you'll pay through the nose for the extra space and facilities.
Have you considered an off site condo? |

When my grandson was 11 months, his family joined my DD and I at OKW in a one bedroom. There were 4 adults and the baby and plenty of room.
I booked through the Disney site with a discount and iirc paid around $300./night-much cheaper than two rooms for us. While having the litchen was lovely We had lots of fruit and yogurt for snacks and could have a leisurely breakfast in the room. And even though it was a short trip (4 nights with the baby) having a washer and dryer was great when the little on spilled, dribbled or leaked on his clothes. |

Surely it's easier in a villa as you have much more space and home comforts. Sure you'd lose EMH and 60 day passes but having done it a couple of times myself I'd say a villa is a better option at the kids ages.
