Does this mean we can travel?
Merry Christmas Dibbers..
Waking upto the news that Trump has given us hope in our plight to fly to the US...albeit with proof of a negative test within 72 hours of departure. The good news is that if I’m reading this right, after 1st Jan we can fly! We are due to go at the end of May so this is exciting news. However, there’s a few down sides. Like making sure we can get a test a couple of days before we fly. Also, are kids exempt from this? And do we need to have a negative test before we can fly home too? Heaven forbid one of your party should test positive and all the planning goes to pot - where would that leave you having to rebook everything and cancellation fees etc..? Anybody else got any thoughts on the practicalities of this. |

When we went to Madeira in November we had to test negative at Funchal airport (you have to isolate in your hotel until the result which takes 6 hours) In order to test negative we isolated at home for 10 days before travel, not possible for everyone I know.

It’s all moot at the moment for those in tier 4 but I believe this was expected from Trump and Biden is likely to change it back in a few weeks time anyway.

From what I have read, these tests are in addition to existing travel restrictions to the US. I doubt any holiday makers will be jetting off before Easter sadly

I read it as this is a further hoop that those who can currently fly from the UK to the US will now need a negative test as well.
There isnt anything about lifting the current travel restrictions for UK citizens yet

Not for regular travellers I'm afraid... it's just another step for those currently allowed to enter USA.

Regardless of what the USA do I don't think our government will be announcing a travel corridor to the USA any time soon given the levels of infection there.

Wouldn't even give it a second's thought while the FCO advisory is in place. Our travel insurance void if we travel against FCO advice.
Happy Christmas Mick
