Mobile Oven bulb help

Morning

I am looking to see if anyone can offer any suggestions. I have a hotpoint oven and last night the bulb went, the problem is I cannot get the bulb cover off.

It should screw off anti clock wise. There is a little movement but it won't budge. I have gently tapping, gripping with rubber gloves, gently heating the cover but nothing is working.

Anyone got any ideas.

Many thanks

Gillian

Hi

You could try gently pushing in as you turn the bulb, sometimes there’s a little lug to get past (just an idea) xx

Put some oven cleaner around it to dissolve the built up crud and the clean with warm soapy water - that worked for me (left it overnight with chemicals on)

I'll second this advice. We couldn't get our cover off no matter what we did but when we had the oven cleaned we asked the chap to try and he got it off no trouble once it had been cleaned.

Couldn’t get the bulb cover off our Bosch oven at all! Wouldn’t budge. Low & behold they sell oven bulb cover removers (like a plastic device which sits over the glass cover) which you can grip and turn. Low & behold it came straight out. Best gadget I’ve ever bought!

See if you can google one for a hot point oven

OP. Is it the 'dome' type of cover? Bear in mind some look like they unscrew whereas in fact there is a small slot where you insert a flat bladed screwdriver and just pop them out.
However the bulk do unscrew I agree. Megaflyer has the best idea.

Thanks all for your replies, helpful as always. I tried hot soapy water as recommended by Megaflyer and have managed to unscrew the cover.

Thanks again

Gillian
