The travel insurance advised us to claim directly with BA. Have submitted the claim to BA. Will keep folks updated as to what happens.
Hopefully they'll sort it out quickly for you and with minimum fuss.
Thanks for the photos, lovely to put faces to the messages!

Hats off to you all. Quick decision had saved you there but unsure if I would of been bold enough. Lovely to see how the community came together to give advice and wish you well. Hope the claim is problem free and you are compensated accordingly. Enjoy your well deserved holiday

Did BA confirm your return flights are still there. From the experience you have had I would get it in writing 😄
I have not asked. Do I just need to call BA holidays and ask? Is there an email address?

Are you on twitter?... I find they respond very well there.

They sorted out my compensation for delayed / cancelled flights all through a few direct messages messages on twitter

Personally I would think it would be worth doing for piece of mind as your First flight was cancelled. This normlally instigates cancellation of all flights on the booking.

As you caught your midpoint flight all should be well and it was probably manually done, but sometimes these things are computer driven so worth double checking in my view.
