Christopher Eccleston - I love the bones of you book - Dementia, depression , anorexia Northener
Has anyone read this book ?
amazon/I-Love-Bone.../dp/1471176312 I am not a book reader at all ( can count on one hand the books that I have read in full ) Nor can I say that I have ever watched anything that he has been in ( honestly - I had to google what he had been in on the tele and other than Doctor Who I had never heard of any of it - I know I must live under a rock ) But he was in the Priory in Altrincham the same time as Emma ( different ward ) and so there is a connection there . I wasn't aware that he had made this public so naturally hadn't mentioned it . I happened to google it last night , and found about the book and also that he too has struggled with anorexia for a long time ( which wasn't the reason he was in the Priory - that was because of severe depression) I understand the book is largely about his relationship with his father and his fathers struggle with dementia but that it covers other aspects of his Salford life and his mental health struggles , so felt I would definitely be able to relate to it . Anyone read it or got any other general comments about him ?

I would imagine his book to be comical as anything he has acted in he seems to play a comical character.
Take a look at The A Word, nothing to do with anorexia, it's about a little boy with Autism and Christopher Eccleston plays his grandad, it's on BBC iPlayer, 3 series and is a lovely touching and comical drama about dealing with autism.

Fair play to him if he does manage to get humour into a book about dementia, depression , anorexia and living in Salford !
But if he manages it about autism , then maybe he does. Thank you

I've been a fan of his since Our Friends in the North, a drama about a group of friends in the 60s-90s (and also starred a very young and not so Bondy Daniel Craig). Well worth a watch it you can find it.

Sorry, I was focusing on his relationship with his father, I would never belittle any illness, the characters he acts out are usually comical, although he doesn't write the scripts I have always thought of him as a cranky but comical type of person 😊 I might take a look at his book, I'm sure it will be an emotional read mixed with some humour.

He narrates the BBC documentary about paramedics and 999 calls (cant remember the name of it). Id always considered him as a serious actor too.
We also saw him a few years ago as Creon in Antigone at the National Theatre - not many laughs in that!
