I assume this "jibe" is directed at myself?
Not sure why you have resorted to name calling - I am sure that the thousands of customers hit by the issue I mentioned and had their holidays ruined wouldn't call it "nit-picking".
If you read my suggestion - I thought it was a positive addition. I even added some companies that you had overlooked - I am sure there are more.
I can't understand why you are either unable or unwilling to understand the difference between suppliers and agents. The difference is there and it can matter. Agents by their nature are generally way less financially less stable. This is the case for all sorts of agents - not just car hire.
Someone might find this fact useful. Others can ignore it - it may never happen again.

Thanks (again) Jim I'm sure it won't be the last time I update this post lol. I have always said they should have a car hire section as questions about this topic DO get asked very often..almost as much as *what will the weather be like*
Even if this post only helps a few people. That's a good thing

Any Advice

Hi

Never done car hire before so need a bit of help please.

Looked for a car via skyscanners-Argus car Rental-Alamo and in print its telling me to ensure enough on card to cover a deposit once there?

Is this normal?
Do they actually take the money or just swipe the card?
How much would it be?

Please help don't want to book and then have a costly bill. Thanks in advance and sorry if posted in wrong place.xx

They usually swipe the card, if you dont have a CC, they usually ask for cash deposit, it does seem a bit overwhelming but as long as you pay full attention to all the details you should be fine.

Hiya. Feel free to ask whatever questions you have.

They put a hold on it but they don't *take anything*. Amounts vary between the companies. It can be anywhere from $200.00 - $350.00 (last time i checked).
Once you return the car they release the hold on the funds.
It's just like when you rent a villa and they can ask for a security depostit.

And to the others..thanks for the kind words Hope it helps.

Thanks

Thanks Nordicat2girl and Shirley for the advice I knew I could count on the lovely Dibbers.

Have now booked our car via Argus car hire via skyscanners from Alamo o hopefully all will be good.

Got a Dodge Charger or similar for a week for £130 so hopefull will keep OH happy.

Hopefully no problems as not done this before collecting from Disney Car Care and OH is very good at saying NO .
