Why is MCO security so damned hopeless?
Just got through the awful security at MCO. 40 minutes to have someone check your bag and scan you. It's the same every time we depart Orlando and I really don't know why they don't do anything about it. It really puts a downer on the whole trip.
I know people moan about Gatwick and Heathrow but they are the epitome of efficiency when you compare them to the shambles at MCO. Rant over.

I don’t think 40 mins is to bad for Mco, it’s often worse, it’s always been like that and doubt it will change until the new terminal opens

Exactly, if 40 minutes is good then there is something seriously wrong with the place. When you compare it to how well Gatwick is set out it's a complete joke.
I don't really expect it to improve even if they open a new terminal.

I've flown to/from MCO good thirty to 40 trips. While it's had long lines since 9/11 we've always gotten through without a problem and relatively quickly.
We changed planes at Heathrow this spring and calling security a mess would be an understatement. My daughter's boyfriend got pulled aside after he said he had liquid duty free purchases he made in Rome. They were still in the sealed bags yet he got pulled to the side for a half and hour being told he was doing everything right. Finally someone came over who knew how to get someone who was doing everything right through security. Both DD and I had liquids in sealed bags, too but got through easily. |

In the last 9 days, I have gone through security at LGW, LaGuardia and Cincinatti airports.. I was through all of them within 10 minutes. I came through Boston immigration and customs, aircraft sky bridge to taxi door shutting in less than 25 minutes.
I would agree that my experiences of MCO, either arriving or leaving have never been pleasant.

I have found MCO security very slow at departure and we are in business so we cut some of it out. But I struggle to say it puts a downer on the whole trip, for one thing it occurs at the end so it hasn’t impacted the previous 14 days or whatever.

I’d say 40 minutes is a decent mid time wait at MCO. I’ve had much longer and much shorter. I’ve seen them as efficient as it’s possible to be and majorly chaotic. Have hussled to be first off the flights and sat at the back and been last. Been the only plane passengers in immigration and merged with two previous flights. My answer to this one is always the same. It is what it is. You can’t control or change it. Why ruin your arrival day stressing about it. Find your zen and zone out. Hope you enjoy your trip now 🙂

We waited 3 hours last December. I would be over the moon with 40 minutes this trip.

If you are at MCO early it's worth monitoring the App as that shows you accurate wait time at gates 1 - 59 and 70 -129 and then making a decision when to line up.
Both currently showing 3 to 7 minutes.
