Only get eaten here if its for dipping in soup.
We often have a huge debate over the name of the end of the bread I'm from north scotland and call it a heel while dh is from the NW England and he calls it the crust. The kids are confused Think it must be a regional thing for the name |

Pre sliced bread "crusts" get turned into breadcrumbs and kept in the freezer for stuffing etc.
Fresh bread "crusts" are eaten with lots of butter.

We call them crusts in the good ol' East of England
And yes, they do get eaten. My sister is the only one who doesn't like them.

What you get up to in the privacy of your home is your own business lady - we're trying to discuss bread here.

We call it that too.
The crust is just the brown around the edge of the bread not the end in our house.

Only if there really is no more bread left! Otherwise the birds get it.
I sometimes use it for breadcrumbs, but only now & then. |
