Banking Points Query

We have an April use year so points for 2019 and 2020 are showing online. We plan on going August 2020 for my husbands special birthday and will therefore be making reservations at the 11 month window and possibly adjusting one of the bookings then at the 7 month window.

I assume even though I will be making the booking this autumn I would be better banking the points now so they are available for our stay in 2020, is this correct?

Yes get them banked unless you think there's a chance you may use them or rent them this year- it cannot be reversed. Must be banked by November 30 in your case, don't forget. If not banked you couldn't use them for the August 2020 trip as trips with them can only currently be booked to end of March 2020 until banked, then they can be used to end of March 2021.
