How does virgin bidding upgrade work

Hi

We have an economy delight flight booked to New York on 01/01/2020, I see in my booking I can bid to upgrade to PE or Upper class, how does this work? Does anyone know if the the lowest bidding price or maximum bidding price ever changes the nearer we get to the departure or is it static. When or if I bid does anyone know how long it takes to get a reply and what would you say is the the best time to bid after booking the flight.

Bids can sometimes be expensive. I have the option on mine to upgrade for a particular price. I got Premium coming back from LA for a upgrade price of �134, but for the bid the cheapest i had was �244.

does yours not say upgrade price as bid for?

You only find out a couple of days before if successful. I've been successful for PE to upper bids, was much less than the upgrade price

I have rung Virgin Pe for the two of us is �500 outbound and �600 inbound at the moment and bidding is around �1400 for the two of us both ways so not paying that.
