Free Solo

Has anyone watched this about a guy climbing El Capitan in Yosemite without and safety harness, or ropes !
There was a lot of background and padding for the first half of the film, before the jaw dropping solo climb. Very much hands over the eyes at times watching, It was his girlfriend I really felt for.

Watched it a while back, enjoyed it, but always kept wondering how long he’d be around if he keeps doing stuff like that

The dawn wall is another similar film well worth a watch.

OH was a bit disappointed how little of the film was actually the climb. Absolutely mad though - like Nickbeean says not sure how long he will be around for.
What made me laugh though was if someone climbs it with a parachute then they would be arrested for base jumping if they fell off and deployed the parachute Yes much better to not wear a parachute and fall ...

I’ve seen a few seconds on googlebox but I find it excruciating. I couldn’t possibly watch a whole film.

Watched it last night, a bit slow at the beginning but worth watching for the awesome climb. Could feel the tension of the film crew through the tv.

Even though I knew he climbed it safely I was still on the edge of my seat. We visited Yosemite last summer. El Capitan is impressive to say the least.

I was the same, I knew he climbed it safely but I was cringing at some parts.

Yes it was so slow for the first half, DH was bored and we turned it off. I watched the second and better half the next day. We went to Yosemite in 2010 and stayed in a cabin in the park with a view over to El Capitan and Half Dome. It really was awesome in the true sense of the word.
