Dont beat yourself up, I could have written this myself - everyday I end up eating naughty things and drinking wine with dinner! Its almost like a treat to myself even though I know its not actually.
Its so hard to be disciplined every day. I had to stop following the slimming world blog on here, even though it was brilliant, asI have no willpower and felt I was a bad influence! Small steps. Am currently giving up sugar, and just trying to walk more.
Life is too short to be feeling so bad about yourself we are all human, I use food as comfort when my DH is away working am alone so much. Hope you feel better soon Minnie x

I get it.

Three years ago this was me.

The thing that worked for me was using the my fitness pal food diary.
It's easy. Download the app onto your phone, put your details in and simply scan the barcode on your food.
It includes restaurants, ready meals everything and if you want to you can just fill it in once a day.

It meant I could have treats when i wanted and it tracks your weight too.

I found that exercise helped massively with mental health and well being. I was going through the menopause and suffering from anxiety and allsorts. It kind of saved me in a way.

You are really being too hard on yourself. You sound like you put everybody and everything before yourself. Look at your life and what you have achieved. A home, a family, a business.

Be proud, you sound amazing!

OP - sorry to hear you’re find it tough right now. Lots of helpful advice here. Can I also offer the following:

- can you think of something you really want to do that just so happens to have weight loss as a side benefit? 2 months from now I will be cycling to my Gran’s old place in Wales from home in Essex. Used to love going there as a kid and always fancied a challenge like this. At the various stops across the 2 days/240 miles I will be seeing various friends/family. Really looking forward to it so the training doesn’t feel like a chore and the thought of having to pull out of it motivates me to keep to the plan.
- whatever approach you use, try to make sure it includes exercise not just calory control. The exercise helps with well being but also allows you to eat the odd treat etc.
- you owe it to yourself to be selfish. Had my wife nag me about heading out on the bike this morning (first 100 mile event for me this season is next weekend so needed a few hours training). Did feel a bit guilty but just went for it. Your family need to respect you need some time just for you.
- try to get this me time in at the beginning of the day. If you put it at the end it tends to slip off the schedule, right?

Good luck with it and keep looking to others to help.

And don’t beat yourself up. If you can hold down a house, a family and a business then you must be doing something right!
