Skip the counter question
Hi. Currently looking at cars for next Easter picking up from mco and like the idea of going straight to the garage. Is it just Alamo who do this or do they all now? Thanks

As Helen says (at most airports) Alamo allows you to avoid the terminal desk, go straight to the garage and choose your own car from the row that you've paid for.
Avis Preferred allows you to skip the counter but your car is pre-allocated. You may swap but still depends on what's in the swap line. Current thread running about Hertz who may offer something similar but you have to join up to something with them. From what Dibbers say maybe Dollar do something similar but only if you book direct with them. Mick

Ok thanks. Alamo it is then. I’m sure we went with Alamo in 2014, booked a compact but when we arrived, we were told to take our pick. Got a Dodge Grand Caravan.

I'm not sure that you can rely on that range of choice to be honest. You get to choose from the row of cars that you've paid for. There may be some crossover by seeing a "full size" in an "intermediate" row for example - but maybe not a Grand Caravan in the compact line.
You can go straight to the garage with any third party broker or Alamo Brits direct. All you need is go through the on line check-in process and get a sheet of paper with a bar code on it. You can go to either garage A or B at MCO. Mick

Take care on the on-line check-in we've not been able to log back in to skip the counter. I've been told because we have two drivers and booked via Alamo Brits we can't skip the counter... Which sounds fishy to me - but regardless something has gone wrong when we were filling in the online check in and we can't log back in now to skip counter. So don't do it in two steps just do it all at once.

Have you completed a form like this and do you have a ten digit Alamo number maybe 129xxxxxxx? Complete this form and it will take you to a form asking mainly about your D/L and flights. Complete that and you'll get the bar code. alamo/en_US/car-rental/checkin.html Mick
