I add a spoonful of honey & a spoonful of red wine vinegar to the veg when it’s cooked for about 5 mins, then my meat & spices etc. My other secret ingredient is a teaspoon of Tesco Finest chipotle & paprika paste - it is so good, has a lovely smokey chilli flavour. It’s also use it when I make sauce for patatas bravas x

I have added chocolate before, but as someone has already posted the darker the better. I dont use mince anymore I use cubed braising steak and cook it in the slow cooker. I have dabbled with adding Guinness to the meat, or a chocolate porter too

The chilli I got most favourable comments on was when I added quite a bit of brown sauce!

i've experimented with chocolate, and never found it adds much.

i use honey and marmite. or if i need to make it vegan friendly, i use brown sugar

finely grated carrot also adds a nice depth (in addition to finely diced carrot)
