The only problem with YouTube is that you can’t pick up on the ambiance of a resort. For me being out on the balcony at BLT, watching the boats on the lake and listening to the whistle of the steam train is magical. Plus the short stroll in to MK is priceless

If you want a studio, I’d probably do Poly due to the size and 2 bathrooms, although I’ve never stopped there as they don’t have 1 beds.
Your hubby has a good point re 1 bed Boardwalk, particularly if you can get a standard (probably via waitlist although often bootable in summer months).
Was going to say exactly this, plus the pool area with splash zone is fab for the kids too x

Yep - that’s one of my favourite things about BLT

It might be worth trying BLT if you get the chance, I love the Poly especially the DVC rooms but find the main reception and general public areas really busy / noisy. You don't get that at BLT but you can always wander over to the Contemporary if you want something more lively

We would either be looking at late May or late August for the kids holidays. Don’t worry, I’ve done my research so I know my chances are slim to none on certain rooms and resorts. It was just on the off chance.

As much as I love the location of BLT I just don’t really like the resort. It just doesn’t feel very Disney to me. Although I do like the DVC lounge and that’s the only time I set foot in that hotel ☺️

I do get what many people say when they think the contemporary & therefore BLT isn’t very Disney - in terms of both not really being highly themed I totally see it.

However having visited WDW since the time that the only onsite options were the contemporary and the Polynesian, to me, whilst not Disney character themed, they speak WDW to me more so than any other Disney hotels anywhere - the monorail going through the contemporary is all Disney for me. And nothing beats the smell of the BLT lobby, possibly my favourite smell on earth! 🙂

I may try it one day but only for a couple of nights just in case I hate it! 😂 But then I guess it can only exceed my expectations right ☺️

My first ever onsite stay was the Contemporary way way back in the day in an MK tower room. I still remember early mornings drinking coffee on the balcony, watching the mist rise over the Seven Seas Lagoon and listening to the sounds of MK. Since the it’s always held a special place in my heart. That’s why I bought BLT as soon as it was announced and that’s my favourite DVC resort.

I’ve stayed in every resort except Hilton Head and Aulani. Each one has its own uniqueness, there’s only one I’d not stay in again but apart from that the rest all have something to offer.
