This is where we struggle with it as we eat onsite so infrequently since DDP was launched.
I'm trying to work out if it's worth us getting one in December as we'll be out again in March, then in the summer with friends so possible 20% plus tip for 6 of us may tip the balance and make it worthwhile. When it's just us, we eat onsite maybe once a week.

TIW also gives a discount on booze in the lounges, that's where we make our savings :-)
Given the cost of food and Bev at WDW it does not take long to get value out of it.

I think we are going to try the TIW this year. We are not direct owners so no discount there and we will be there for 14 days with Various table service planned. you can only try these things can't you.

We book 5 nights at a moderate with tix and free QSDP.We find this is enough food for us. We then upgrade tix to DVC Gold Pass and stay at our Home resort, sometimes adding another 1 or 2 nights at bay lake tower with full DDP.
The following year, we use our dvcAP's and points at our home resort and then go to universal for 5 days. It works for us. We dont drink a lot and eating on a ddp for 21 nights would make me ill! so tiw no good for us.

We have done 5 days with Free dining and tix in the past and then moved to our DVC and it has worked well. However our trips tend to have to be shorter now so it's not worth us doing.
I think most Disney TS are over-rated but I do have a couple of favourites and use the DVC discount on those. I wouldn't but DDP unless they offered it at a bargain price for members as I really don't eat that much food, I can't even fit my snacks in as I'm always too full so end up coming back with a case of Goofy candy when we have used the plan! I prefer eating off-site anyway unless we are there at xmas/New Year when it's just too much hassle to leave WDW |
