Alaskan Cruise!

So excited to tell everyone we have at last booked our cruise of a lifetime to Alaska! We have thought about it for a couple of years and decided we’d do it in 2021. We saw a cruise yesterday, we loved the itinerary and by last evening we were all booked, balcony clear view cabi! Can’t wait!
It’s not until May 2020. Have any of you been before? What are the best bits? What should we not miss?
We are going from Vancouver, staying in the city for a couple of days before flying, anyone down this, any tips on getting from hotel to port as transfers not arranged. I know there will be taxis but after alternatives if there are any out there
Once again, thanks Dibbers xxx

We dn Alaska cruise from Vancouver last May so ask any questions
. Transport by taxi is easy as the cruise port is right in the centre of the city. Weather was great, fine and sunny for us. Highlights were the whale watching from Juneau, the White Pass railway at Skagway. We found Ketchican a bit touristy but that may be because it was the only day it rained. The glaciers were stunning. You will have a great time

Thanks for answering my questions!
We are staying in a city centre hotel prior to cruise so a taxi will be fine to get to port? We were hoping to do a Husky sled ride somewhere, did you see any excursions of this nature? We would love the whale watching too. Did you book your excursions on the ship or with another company?
Which cruise company did you go with? X

Have a look on Cruisecritic there will likely be a roll call of of others on the same cruise. There are often ideas of things to do and sometimes other passengers book a tour and invite others to join to fill a minibus. We’ve done lots of these and organised several ourselves - works out much cheaper than ship tours and very often get to see more things with there being fewer passengers. There is also a Ports of Call section with advice specific for Alaska.

Thats a beautiful ship, was my first celebrity cruise and loved her, Alaska is on my bucket list and this trip just sounds perfect! Be sure to have a meal in Muranos if you can, its really special.
