When to book Car Rental

Okay I have loads of time yet before I go but when in general is best to book car rental to get the best rates? Are rates generally best when they first go on sale? Do many of the US rental companies have routine sales periods, Black Friday sales etc?

I always book circa a year in advance. Then keep cancelling and rebooking should the price change which it always does

As Mr T says I’ve cancelled and rebooked this trip 4 times it’s gone down £100 for an upgrade from original price

just as above.

Book as soon as possible, on a site where you get FREE CANCELLATION (double triple check that)

then work your way down the rates, as soon as a lower rate shows up (not necessarily on the same site, but keep checking the usual suspects, like those in the yellow box at the top of this forum) and always make sure whoever you book with does not have cancellation or change fees.

I recommend checking prices with Andy at DFCH
