We are doing this next year as it’s saved is a substantial amount of money... we are driving straight up to Orlando off the flight and checking into a Disney hotel for the night before heading to our villa on the Saturday... we are estimating that it’s saved us at least £1000 for our family of 5 doing this 👌🏼

We go in October and fly into Miami - saving £1700 for a family of 5. I'll be driving up same day, a stop of mid way for eats, I hope it won't take more than 4.5 hours, staying off S Poinciana Road.

We're doing this in October, we've decided to book a night at the comfort suites by the airport and drive up the US27 early next morning. Even taking into account the cost for the Hotel and extra fuel we've saved over £1200 for 4 of us.

We are doing this in August and staying the night at the comfort suits at the airport as well as the above poster. Saved our family of 5 almost £1500! Even if we had flown into MCO we always check into a cheap hotel the fist night and check in the following morning to Disney. This year we are planning to leave as soon as we are up (the first time I have ever wanted everyone awake at 4am!) then driving up the turnpike and plan to be at POR by no later than 11am which will include at least one stop on the motorway and a Walmart stop ... fingers crossed!

We did this last August and we drove about 2 hours to a place called Stuart, stayed the night in a Holiday Inn and drove the rest of the way up the following morning.
On the return we spent 3 nights in Miami at Hollywood Beech which was a fantastic end to a great holiday. Would have no hesitation in doing it again,

We are sort of doing this. Flying from Manchester to NYC for a couple of days and then an internal flight to Miami, spending a couple of days in Miami and then exploring the Keys, before heading up to Orlando and flying out from there at the end of the holiday. Haven't done it before so hoping it will be ok!

We flew Manchester to Miami on our last holiday, as the flights were so much cheaper.. stayed in ft lauderdale for one night then drove to Anna Maria, for 1 week and then onto Orlando for 6 days.. drove back to Miami.. would I do it again? only if flights were a lot cheaper again.

We arrived into Miami last year and have done so previously.
We did it differently last year - Trip report days might help by clicking here

Previously, we have found a few bargains into MIA and driven up to Orlando on arrival, easy, but boring drive.
We are into MIA this year and have booked a hotel half way to allow a break and to hopefully allow a little pool time before bed.

Cost is always the leader in flight booking for me and I have never seen anything that touches the price we have for this summer - we then built the holiday around it.

We’re doing this next Easter and was £2000 cheaper for 3 of us than if we’d gome direct to MCO 😱

We’re taking an after lunch flight from LHR to give us time to get there that morning and then having a cheap overnight near Miami airport. We’ll be up super early anyway and plan to hit the road early getting breakfast on the way and anticipate being in the villa by mid morning.

On the way home, we have to check out the villa at 10 so will drive down then but stop at the beach for a meal and a walk before getting to the airport late afternoon. We’re going for 3 weeks so have more time to spare anyway but £2000 is a lot of money for a minor inconvenience.

I'm doing it this way for the first time this year, always flown straight into MCO before, but this time tying in a trip to the restaurant owned by Iron Maiden drummer Nicko in Coral Springs, which if you're a fan is a great place to visit, and then an overnight stay nearby. Quite looking forward to the change of scenery and still plenty of time to take in the parks. There are 7 of us and it took £3.5k off the cost of the flights, vehicles cost the same, factor in fuel/tolls/hotel/meals and it still wont come near to the amount we've saved, and saving wasn't even a must, it just seemed a good way to do it, and as previous posters have said, you can tie in other things, like go see fireworks first night and then you don't need to spend a whole day and evening in a park waiting for those. Have a fab holiday.
